Chris Inglis

Chris Inglis is the former deputy director of the National Security Agency and the nation's first national cyber director, having served the federal government for more than 40 years. Prior to serving as the first National Cyber Director for the White House from 2021 to 2023, Inglis spent 17 years at NSA. He was a U.S. Naval Academy Looker Distinguished Visiting Professor for cyber studies and a commissioner on the U.S. Cyberspace Solarium Commission. Inglis also served for more than 30 years in the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard, from which he retired as a command pilot at the rank of brigadier general.
He served as a member of the Department of Defense Science Board and as a National Intelligence University trustee until early 2021. Before his Senate confirmation as National Cyber Director, Inglis worked for the Washington, D.C.-based consulting company WestExec Advisors.
Inglis has received honors including the President's National Security Medal, the Director of National Intelligence Distinguished Service Medal, and, on multiple occasions, the Presidential Rank Award.
Inglis earned a bachelor's in mechanical engineering from the U.S. Air Force Academy, a master's in mechanical engineering from Columbia University, a master's in computer science from Johns Hopkins, and a professional degree in computer science from the George Washington University.
He and his wife, Anna, have three grown children and live in Annapolis, Md.
