
Brian Abrahamson
Senior Vice President, Chief Operating Officer
Brian Abrahamson is senior vice president and chief operating officer at MITRE. In this role, he leads critical teams, including enterprise technology, global security services, corporate strategy, corporate real estate, and enterprise communications. All provide mission support to our independent research program and the federally funded research and development centers we operate for government sponsors.
He collaborates with cross-company teams to improve end-to-end operations, champion a culture of continuous improvement, and ensure that MITRE’s operational capabilities align with our sponsor missions.
Abrahamson joined MITRE from Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), where he served as associate laboratory director and chief digital officer. At PNNL, he led the digital transformation program office, communications and public affairs, information technology, research computing, and cybersecurity operations. His innovative approach to operational excellence and passion for simplicity streamlined the research experience and elevated the visibility of PNNL’s mission impact.
Prior to PNNL, Abrahamson served as the chief information officer for Pacific Gas and Electric Company, one of the nation’s largest investor-owned utilities. He also spent more than a decade at Accenture, where he partnered with technology and business leaders at Fortune 250 companies to drive digital transformation and operational efficiency.
Abrahamson holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Gonzaga University.
