Participate in Aviation Research
Be a part of aviation’s transformation
The Center for Advanced Aviation System Development (CAASD), which MITRE operates for the Federal Aviation Administration, is seeking problem solvers, innovators, and aviation professionals for participation in research simulations. These simulations help us assess new technology and procedures and how they will affect various roles and responsibilities.
CAASD conducts research across all segments of aviation, including air traffic control, general aviation, business aviation, transport operations, and uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS). We are also expanding our research into commercial space operations and other modes of transportation.
Our research laboratories (Video) feature tower, terminal, and en route simulators, as well as several flight decks and UAS simulation platforms.
The typical evaluation requires about four hours to complete, although some are longer. Most of our simulations take place in our laboratories in McLean, Virginia, but evaluations are sometimes conducted at other research facilities or online.
We are seeking individuals with experience in the following areas:
- Transport Pilot
- Corporate Pilot
- General Aviation Pilot
- Small UAS Pilot
- Air Traffic Control
Ready to participate? Apply now.
As new simulation studies become available, we will email you with study details and sign-up information. There is no obligation to participate in any study, and you may remove your name from our email list at any time.
Thank you for your interest in the advancement of aviation. We look forward to working with you!
