Descriptive to Executable Simulation Modeling (DESIM) is a software toolkit that creates computational models of complex real-life emergency situations to aid in critical decision-making.

Descriptive to Executable Simulation Modeling: Computational Modeling for Critical Decision-Making
Emergency situations, such as natural disasters, call for critical decisions made in a timely manner. DESIM is a MITRE-developed methodology and software toolkit that provides support for decision-makers in complex situations. DESIM creates a computational model of a situation by combining mental models from multiple decision-makers and providing a graphic depiction of the decision space and options. The result is a more complete and less biased picture of a situation than an individual might be able to achieve in isolation.
DESIM’s software toolkit uses a unique combination of cognitive modeling, crowdsourcing, and interactive visualization approaches to help decision-makers comprehend and compare the range of potential outcomes of different options or scenarios in complex and uncertain decision-making environments. The web-based capability is prototype software comprised of source code and documentation, including an installation guide.
