Why MITRE Is a Computerworld ‘Best Place to Work’

So there's always a new technology coming at you — a hurdle that you have to get

over and finding those solutions to those problems is really exciting for me.

When I got out of the military, I was looking for a way to contribute to our

nation still, and MITRE came up and it seemed like a natural choice.

The projects, the technologies —

everybody that I meet is working on something interesting and of national importance.

One of the most innovative projects I've been part of at

MITRE has been the simulation experiment program where we bring in operators from

across the government organizations and we work with them on different tools and

techniques to make their jobs better.

The thing I'm most proud of working on is MITRE At Work.

MITRE At Work is our mobile application. It allows our MITRE

employees to be able to check their calendar, to be able to get up to speed

on MITRE news.

We really were thinking about not what can't we do but what can we do.

MITRE's commitment to tuition

reimbursement and on-the-job training is unlike anything I've ever seen any other company.

I've taken advantage of the Education Assistance Program to get a

graduate degree—got multiple certifications.

I like how they allow you to take training whether it's internally or

externally. They allow you to get certifications attend conferences and

grow in your career within MITRE.

The training is just really unbelievable

it's pretty pretty much unlimited in my in my viewpoint.

You're able to reinvent yourself many times over the course of a 30-year career

and I've done that actually multiple times.

If someone were to ask me about MITRE, I would say

MITRE is a place that is concerned with the Public Interest, we're concerned

with big problems, and MITRE's a place that invests in its people.

When I come to work I have fun. We go out to eat together at lunch, we go out for you know

after work activities. I think that's really what generates that high-energy

atmosphere, and when you have a high-energy atmosphere it's actually fun to come to work.

There's a lot of energy and excitement at MITRE for new

technology and as much as things are changing we're changing with it.
