This paper is an examination of the emerging market of the Internet of Things (IoT) and serves as a guide to the two main areas of the technology, namely 1) commercial and consumer products and 2) industrial solutions, with an emphasis on the former, in particular solutions for building and home automation. Further this paper also examines the methodologies for connecting these devices for communication.
