Weather accounts for a majority of the air traffic delays within the National Airspace System (NAS). The task of taking meteorological information (e.g., weather observations and forecasts) and turning it into the impact values needed to devise operationally effective air traffic management (ATM) solutions is left almost completely up to the individual human decision maker today.
