The development of intelligent operational energy systems introduces significant cybersecurity and resiliency concerns to the science and technology community within the energy and power sector of the U.S. Department of Defense. Operational energy systems are comprised of cyber-physical systems and must be able to safely function and respond in challenging tactical environments.

This report summarizes the findings of a study examining the common cyber vulnerabilities for intelligent operational energy systems, their potential impacts, and potential mitigation strategies. The result is a set of recommended next steps for the operational energy science and technology community.
