The open ocean is a notoriously difficult environment to test in. Highlighted by WCVB Channel 5 – Boston’s local ABC affiliate – MITRE’s BlueTech Lab is enabling quicker and cheaper testing for underwater research.
"That is important for developers of all kinds, whether they are working on ocean mapping, acoustic testing or other maritime applications," said Anthony Everett, anchor of local news magazine Chronicle. "It’s also important for the rapidly expanding Blue Economy, and ultimately for the place we all call home."
The segment includes footage and interviews from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI), a key BlueTech partner for MITRE.
"This tank allows us to come into an environment where we can control it and we can do a lot of things," said Carl Hartsfield, director and senior program manager at WHOI.
