Foundry's CIO has honored MITRE with a CIO 100 award for its establishment of a secure environment for federal agencies to experiment, prototype, and deploy advanced AI solutions. The Federal AI Sandbox is MITRE's fifth consecutive CIO 100 win, and eighth overall.
Federal agencies need sophisticated computing resources and specialized expertise—which are both scarce at scale—to effectively develop AI solutions. MITRE's Federal AI Sandbox offers a national-scale resource specifically designed to work across government agencies. The Sandbox introduces a groundbreaking capability that will enhance the experimentation and development of next-generation AI-enabled applications for the federal government. At its core is an NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD™, a national-scale AI supercomputer that significantly accelerates AI applications.
"The Federal AI Sandbox is poised to turbocharge the U.S. government's AI efforts, driving innovation and efficiency across the federal landscape," said Deborah Youmans, MITRE vice president and chief information officer. "This fifth consecutive CIO 100 award showcases the innovative way that our teams, in partnership with NVIDIA, built the Sandbox in just three months following hardware delivery. It's already training models that can help our federal sponsors simplify systems for providing benefits and services and better defend critical infrastructure."
