The MITRE Corporation was named one of Computerworld’s Best Places to Work in Information Technology for 2019 and ranked 45 of 49 among large organizations. This is the 11th time MITRE has been included on the list, and the second year in a row.
“MITRE’s mission to solve problems for a safer world relies on the right tools to make the work possible,” said Joel Jacobs, vice president and chief information officer at MITRE. “None of that is possible without a talented IT staff that is motivated to come to work every day.”
To attract and retain the best minds in IT, MITRE provides competitive compensation, including a generous retirement plan, tuition reimbursement, and college loan repayment assistance. A key part of MITRE’s strategy is to create a workplace that enables all employees to realize their maximum potential and career aspirations.
“Everyone is energized to come to work and solve problems and fix issues," said Gordy Scott, lead operations engineer. "That’s what generates that high-energy atmosphere. When you have a high-energy atmosphere, it’s actually fun to come to work.”
Computerworld’s annual Best Places to Work in IT list is based on a comprehensive questionnaire and employee survey. A company’s benefits, career development, training, and retention all factor into the results.
